Consumers Credit Union Launches Paw Prints Summer Reading Program and Book Drive
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 15, 2012
Kalamazoo, Mich. – PAW PRINTS SUMMER READING PROGRAM: This summer, June 18 through August 17, Consumers Credit Union is offering the Paw Prints Summer Reading Program for all Dollar Dog Kids Club® members. The program provides prizes as incentives for kids age 12 and under who spend their free time reading during the summer.
Participants in the Paw Prints Summer Reading program will receive: a stamp card to record how many books they read; a journal page to write about what they have read; a coloring page to color and enter into the credit union’s coloring contest (due July 18); their very own Dollar Dog bookmark; and, a personal name card to display in the credit union’s lobby.
PRIZES: With each stamp (or book read), participants will receive a small reward, such as a tattoo, sticker, coin, or other great prize. Once participants reach 10 stamps, they get to select an even bigger gift. Participants can earn up to three gifts this summer, just for reading their favorite books. Those who choose to enter the coloring contest will have a chance to win another special prize. Each office will hold its own coloring contest so there will be more chances for kids to win.
Says Jen Knapp, Education and Events Coordinator, “At Consumers, we are looking for unique ways to keep kids engaged this summer, not only with the credit union, but with their reading and writing and art skills as well.”
All members age 12 and under are invited to participate in the Dollar Dog Kids’ Club Paw Prints Summer Reading Program at Consumers. The reading program ends August 17th.

BOOK DRIVE FOR LOCAL SCHOOLS: As a complement to its summer reading program, Consumers Credit Union will be holding a book drive at each of its offices – through July 18. The credit union will be collecting books for all ages and genres to donate to local schools and libraries. All are welcome to bring in books to donate (either children’s or adult) to their local Consumers office and place them in the collection bin inside the office. The book drive ends July 18th.
